Mrs. Crystal Sparks
Education: Bachelor of Science in Secondary Education (2004) from Jacksonville State University ; Master of Education in Collaborative Special Education (2005) from Jacksonville State University ; Master of Arts in Educational Leadership (2009) from Jacksonville State University.
Experience: Collaborative Teacher/History Teacher at Oxford High School from 2004 - 2009; Assistant Principal at Weaver Elementary School from 2009 - 2012; Assistant Principal at Alexandria High School from 2012-2013; Principal at Saks Elementary School from 2013-2016; Principal at Pleasant Valley Elementary School 2016-2024. Principal at Pleasant Valley High School-present.
Personal: I am a child of God who lives to give glory to Him. Humbled to be a vessel to serve Christ and the community of Pleasant Valley. Wife to Chris Sparks who is the Pastor at Angel Grove Baptist Church, mother to six RAIDER boys; Hunter, Jaden, Hudson, Hollis, Scout, and Sawyer. I love to read, run on my treadmill (while catching up on favorite shows) and a good shopping trip to a thrift store! Go Raiders!!

Mr. Shane Harrell
Education: Mr. Shane Harrell is honored to serve as the Assistant Principal at Pleasant Valley High School. A graduate of Jacksonville High School, he earned his Bachelor of Science in Secondary Education (Social Science) from Jacksonville State University and his Master of Science in Instructional Leadership from the University of West Alabama .
Experience: Mr. Harrell began his educational career at Pleasant Valley High School in 2005, as a teacher and assistant football coach. During his career he has taught and coached at several schools, including Childersburg, Etowah, Walter Wellborn, White Plains, and Handley where his experience includes leadership and coaching roles in football, baseball, softball, wrestling, and track. He has served as the Assistant Principal at Boaz Intermediate School since 2024.
Personal: Mr. Harrell is dedicated to fostering a positive school culture, supporting teachers, and helping students reach their fullest potential. He and his wife, Paige, have been married for thirty years and share a deep love for family, faith, and education. Their three children, Austin, Wesley (Alexis), and Olivia, have each pursued paths that reflect this same commitment to learning and service. Mr. Harrell is excited to return to Pleasant Valley and continue its proud tradition of excellence and community spirit. Go Raiders!
